Born Again Blogger
February 1, 2007 in WordPress
Okay, that’s it.
I’ve had it with Joomla, Moveable Type and Expression Engine… especially Expression Engine.
For the past few weeks I’ve noticed that my rankings in Google have been sliding down and off the front pages for many keywords and topics. So I started a discussion over on Michel Fortin’s fantastic copywriting forum and after 19 posts it was overwhelmingly evident that WordPress has it all over the other blog and content management systems.
But yesterday sent me over the edge.
I went to Michel’s marketing blog and looked up some of his titles in Google. “My Favorite Copywriting Blogs,” #1 in Google. “Use Pressure To Prevent Procrastination,” #1 in Google. “These Test Results Are Dense!”… again, #1 in Google.
He’s running WordPress.
I did the same thing with some of my Expression Engine blogs. Not only did I not come up #1, I hardly came up at all! And when I did come up, it wasn’t for the specific article, it was for the main index page!
Grrr!
As I said to Michel in one of my forum replies, “Okay, okay! You’ve convinced me! I’ve seen the light and have been converted. Hallelujah and pass the collection plate!”
I’m a born again blogger!
So now I am in the process of converting all of my blogs to WordPress.
Sigh…
I swear, all that time and money spent on other CMS systems makes me sick. I haven’t felt this bad since I went down that dark, twisted, ill-fated Betamax path with Sony.
D’oh!

Glad you made it to the “Dark Side”… I had problems with EE too. It was harder than Chinese arithmetic to get the permalinks to work the way I wanted.
